Search continues for Sirasa TV graphic designer at Mini World’s End


Colombo (News 1st); The search for Sirasa TV graphic designer Dinura Wijesundera, missing following an excursion to Mini World’s End in Madolsima on Sunday (07), continued on Monday (08).

Search and rescue personnel have yet to locate Wijesundera, a 35-year-old resident of Maggona, Kalutara, who was part of a team of 12 including 06 medics who took part in an excursion to Mini World’s End on Saturday ( 06).

It was reported that the team decided to spend the night at Mini World’s End on Saturday (06), but decided to return to their vehicles at 3 a.m. on Sunday (07) due to heavy rain and high winds.

It was only then that the team found out that Dinura Wijesundera was not with them.

Sri Lanka Police and Sri Lanka Army launched a search and rescue operation assuming he had slipped and fell, however, the operation did not result in the discovery of Dinura Wijesundera due thick mist.

On Monday (09), search and rescue personnel launched an operation inside the jungle via the Kotagama Grama Niladhari division in Bibila.

This team consisted of 36 soldiers from the Sri Lankan army.

Emergency vehicles have been put on hold, Kotagama officer Grama Niladhari said, adding that the option of airlifting Dinura Wijesundera was not ruled out.
